Three days are enough to fall in love with Santorini, provided you leave the busiest hours to others. Here is how we like to share them.
Day one: the villages of the caldera
Start early in Fira, when the lanes are still quiet, then follow the path along the cliff to Imerovigli and Firostefani. The walk takes about an hour and offers the finest views of the volcano.
Day two: the south of the island
Rent a car or a quad and head for the Red Beach, then Perissa and its black sand. End the day in Pyrgos, a hilltop village far from the crowds, for dinner on a terrace.
Day three: Oia at your own pace
Oia is famous for its sunset, and the whole island knows it. Visit in the morning, have lunch by the sea in Ammoudi, and watch the sun go down from your hotel terrace rather than from the castle.
Our tip: book a room with a view of the caldera. You will spend more time on your terrace than you think.
